Blake Shelton shares new details about the song he wrote for Gwen Stefani on their wedding day.

“I had written a song. And as soon as I knew that’s what we were going to do. I started trying to write a song because it’s kind of the opposite of what she would have expected of me,” he explained. “Because I’m at the point where I don’t write as many songs anymore. It’s like pulling teeth for me and that’s something she’s always on my case about. And she constantly beats me about it about how I should write, you know? And so I started writing this song and I couldn’t go any further. Because I didn’t want it to be just something for this moment. I wanted it to be something bigger and saw that I needed help.

He added, “And so I called Craig, Craig Wiseman. I said, ‘Craig, you gotta help me with this thing. Like, I’m not kidding here.”

Shelton and Wiseman have collaborated on a number of songs together, including Shelton’s 2013 hit, “Boys’ Round Here.”

The singer is also looking forward to sharing the song with the world soon.

“I think it’s something I want to share because I’m really proud of it. And for me, a wedding, a ceremony, is that you don’t keep it private when you marry someone whose you announce to the world, “Hey, that’s my wife, just so everyone know”. That’s why we wear these rings,” Shelton said. “This is where we are together now. And, and I feel that about the song. It’s like, it’s a, uh, you know, for me something that I want people to hear and know because I’m proud to be married to Gwen and so proud of this song.

Shelton also opened up about their honeymoon plans: “We’re probably still going, we’ve chosen, we’ve had some time after the wedding, just her and me. But you know, we just wanted something quiet for a minute and not run away and then go do something else.
