Kelly Clarkson New Album 2022: Brandon Blackstock Divorce Muddles Writing Process

Kelly Clarkson is gearing up to release new music – slowly but surely. But the process is complicated by her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. For most musicians, such a period in their life can sometimes help in writing new music, as it provides new material, but for Clarkson, that’s easier said than done.

Like an artist who has always worn her heart on her sleeve, she says she’s not sure how much information to share with her followers following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

“It’s been the hardest thing to deal with,” she said on the June 29 episode of The Global Chart Show with Brooke Reese. “I’ve never had such a difficult project. It’s one of those things where I’m a human and I’m going through something huge. Obviously everyone knows, like, a big, big divorce that I’m going through. have lived.”

Additionally, she shared that she had to consider River, 8, and Remington, 6, as well as Blackstock’s two children from a previous marriage when deciding what to say (or sing) . She revealed that the dynamic is very different and it’s not easy to let all your emotions flow into your music because other people can be hurt.

For Clarkson, writing has always been his outlet. “I mean I have to be completely honest,” she continued, “but it’s a hard thing to deal with, isn’t it? Because it’s in the public eye, and there’s has other people involved.”

Therefore, she is still determining which songs to include in her future album. The three-time Grammy winner remarked that it will come when she pulls herself together.

In an effort to protect their family’s privacy, the American Idol alum and talent manager have said little about their divorce since filing in June 2020.

“My children and her older children – there are a lot of little hearts involved in this and while people are thinking, ‘Oh my God, what a loss…’ imagine how it is at the epicenter of the storm”, Clarkson, who finalized her divorce in March, previously told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s a lot to process and manage, just like a family. So because it’s not just me, I probably won’t go too far with it.”

After all, they walked in their children’s shoes. On an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that aired in September 2020, Clarkson said that separating from a spouse or divorce is never easy, but as adults coming from their respective separate homes, they knew the decision was the wiser was to simply protect the still tender hearts of their children.
